We are delighted to announce that Naomi Grierson, our Product Support Manager and an integral member of our senior team, has passed her Master of Business Administration (MBA) course, achieving a Merit.
Naomi has been with the Epwin Group, the parent company to DekBoard, since 2013 when she joined as an order processor for Epwin’s Kestrel brand. In 2018, she was offered an opportunity to work with DekBoard on a project, alongside her position at Kestrel, and at the same time Naomi started studying for her MBA course, which was fully funded by the Epwin Group.
“Although it sounds like a lot to take on, the opportunity to work with DekBoard whilst furthering my development by studying for an MBA was one I could not turn down,” explains Naomi. “I studied for my MBA remotely over three years and it was one of the toughest academic challenges I
have faced. I began my course in 2019 which coincided with COVID and made studying and working full-time extremely testing. However, I have been extremely lucky to collaborate with, and be mentored by a fantastic group of colleagues and customers.
“The support I received from DekBoard and the wider Epwin Group was invaluable and, combined with hard work and dedication, it enabled me to achieve a merit and my promotion to Product Support Manager with DekBoard,” adds Naomi.
Since 2021, Naomi has worked full-time as DekBoard’s Product Support Manager, a wide-ranging role that sees her manage projects, support stakeholders, and build strong relationships with DekBoard customers. Naomi also works closely with the Commercial Director to develop and implement business strategies, as well as providing training and support to the DekBoard customer service team.
But how has studying for an MBA helped Naomi with her role at DekBoard? Naomi continues:
“My MBA has provided me with the knowledge and expertise needed for a managerial role within a business environment, from ethical decision-making, and people management to financial analytics, marketing, and risk assessment. The course has certainly helped to develop my strategic knowledge, build my confidence, and engage further with colleagues and customers, which has in turn created positive relationships on all levels.
“My studies have definitely had a positive impact on my role with DekBoard. The communication skills I have learnt have improved the way I interact and react to customer requirements. In turn, this has enabled me to respond to customer, manufacturing, and logistical demands in a professional and timely manner.”
Naomi concludes: “DekBoard understands that its team is integral to its continued success and nurturing talent by encouraging personal and professional development is vital. I have benefitted from this philosophy and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at DekBoard and within the Epwin Group who have supported me over the past few years and helped me achieve my MBA.”
